Basic SEO Glossary

There are a lot of terms thrown around when it comes to Search Engine Optimisation
Lets start with the basics and sum up the main 4 phrases.

Organic SEO

This relates to the left side of Google or Yahoo, these are the results they rank highly due to a number of features based on their algorithms.

Pay Per Click (PPC)

This is the sponsored listings you see on the right side of either Google or Yahoo. This offers instant page one results, however, it is not as heavily used as the organic listing by searchers.

Internal SEO

These are the methodologies implemented to the back end of the website. This includes a range of different factors to make your site as Search Engine Friendly as possible.

External SEO

This is what is done to market your site on the Internet and build inbound links directing to your website. This is the on going cost of Search Engine Optimisation and the hardest to successfully pull off. It can take months of work dependent on the competitiveness of your business
