I do agree with @web design uk that Facebook is useful targeting certain age group while Twitter is useful for judging market response.

As per web marketing perspective i think both are essential tool for promoting business among growing social networking sites. If you profile visibility in only facebook or twitter then you business will loss the opportunity for making conversation from facebook or twitter.

In order for a website to be raise their profile online, they need to focus on both, Facebook as well as Twitter. An effective online marketing strategy should focus on both these sites as they are truly the leaders among all social media sites. A recent report shows that Facebook is gaining market share from its rival MySpace who have been forced to reduce their overheads as a result of loosing market share to Facebook.

Both Twitter and Facebook are vital resources to build the profile of your company or website, no matter what your line of business. Both have a large user-base and can be effective for promoting your company or website. Both offer different benefits however. Facebook can be good for targeting users of a certain age group while Twitter can be excellent when you want to judge the response of your market quickly.

I knew this would cause a big uproar and it did, seems the majority of users have just adapted to the new homepage by now though.
