Facebook Usernames?
Facebook has announced it is planning on becoming even more similar to their social networking rivals, Twitter and MySpace, by allowing users to have their own personalised URLs or ‘Facebook Usernames’.
Facebook plan on allowing users to chose their custom URL at 5.01am on Saturday the 14th of June, although some of the high priority names have already been snapped up by Facebook officials, big businesses and celebrities, so if you share the name Mark Zuckerberg, you may be out of luck.
Apart from the reserved names, it is based on a first come, first serve basis, so if you are dead set on snapping up a decent URL, you had better set a couple of alarms as the American users have the slightly easier time of 12.01am. Facebook have also brought in precautions to prevent name-squatter from stealing the highest demand names, by only allowing users who joined before 3pm EDT on 9 June to have the batch of names, users who have joined after this will have to wait till the 28th of June to scavenge through the wreckage of what’s left.
If you love your Facebook account and spend 60% time mindlessly browsing friend’s profiles and ‘liking’ status updates, then you had better get an early night and set you best alarm.

At least, for those who are using one username for all social networking sites, you can now access all your accounts without any confusion.
